Looking Backward Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DDEE FFGG HHBB IIHH JJKK

Gray towers make me think of theeA
Thou girl of olden minstrelsyB
Young as the sunlight of to dayC
Silent as tasselled boughs in MayC
-
A wind flower in a world of harmD
A harebell on a turret's armD
A pearl upon the hilt of fameE
Thou wert fair child of some high nameE
-
The velvet page the deep eyed knightF
The heartless falcon poised for flightF
The dainty steed and graceful houndG
In thee their keenest rapture foundG
-
But for old ballads and the rhymeH
And writ of genius o'er the timeH
When keeps had newly reared their towersB
The winning scene had not been oursB
-
O Chivalry thy age was fairI
When even knaves set out to dareI
Their heads for any barbarous crimeH
And hate was brave and love sublimeH
-
The bugle note I send so farJ
Across Time's moors to thee sweet starJ
Where stands thy castle in its mistK
Hear if the wandering breezes listK
