Death's EloquenceB
-
-
When I shall goC
Into the narrow home that leavesD
No room for wringing of the hands and hairE
And feel the pressing of the walls which bearE
The heavy sod upon my heart that grievesD
As the weird earth rolls onF
Then I shall knowC
What is the power of destiny But stillG
Still while my life however sad be mineH
I war with memory striving to divineH
Phantom to morrows to outrun the pastI
For yet the tears of final absolute illG
And ruinous knowledge of my fate I shunJ
Even as the frail instinctive weedK
Tries through unending shade to reach at lastI
A shining mellowing rapture giving sunJ
So in the deed of breathing joy's warm breathL
Fain to succeedK
I too in colorless longings hope till deathL

PeaceM
-
-
An angel spoke with me and lo he hoardedN
My falling tears to cheer a flower's faceO
For so it seems in all the heavenly spaceO
A wasted grief was never yet recordedP
Victorious calm those holy tones affordedP
Unto my soul whose outcry in disgraceO
Changed to low music leading to the placeO
Where though well armed with futile end awardedP
My past lay dead Wars are of earth he criedQ
Endurance only breathes immortal airE
Courage eternal by a world defiedQ
Still wears the front of patience smooth and fairE
Are wars so futile and is courage peaceM
Take then my soul thus gently thy releaseM
