Sidekicks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABB CDEF GHIB JBK LMNOB

They were never handsome and often cameA
with a hormone imbalance manifested by corpulenceB
a yodel of a voice or ears big as kidneysB
-
But each was brave More than once a sidekickC
has thrown himself in front of our hero in orderD
to receive the bullet or blow meant for thatE
perfect face and bodyF
-
Thankfully heroes never die in movies and leaveG
the sidekick alone He would not stand for itH
Gabby or Pat Pancho or Andy remind us of a partI
of ourselvesB
-
the dependent part that can never grow upJ
the part that is painfully eager to pleaseB
always wants a hug and never gets enoughK
-
Who could sit in a darkened theatre listenL
to the organ music and watch the bestM
of ourselves lowered into the ground whileN
the rest stood up there tears pouring offO
that enormous noseB
