Walking toward the library I pass three childrenB
staring down at a dead crow and daring each otherC
to poke it with a stickD
I stop too because I know a little about crowsE
how for instance they are different from ravensF
I could tell these well dressed children thatG
ravens are black a with purple tint while crowsE
are denied that royal hue A crow's tale is squared offH
like the crew cut on the boy at Menchie's who handsI
them the expensive frozen yogurtJ
while a raven's tale is triangular a shape discoveredK
by the Persians and beloved by the th centuryL
mathematician Blaise Pascal Furthermore ravensF
love solitude and prefer remote hills and woodsM
while a crow will perch on a stop sign and bragN
about it endlesslyL
But that isn't what they are concerned aboutO
They want to know about Death And for thatG
I would have to fetch the skull from my desktopP
and ask the sun to hide its face behind a darkQ
galleon shaped cloud and thenR
Oh wait They're offering me the stick AllS
they really want to know is will I poke the corpseT
Of course And when I do and it moves theyU
run away shrieking and delighted More aliveV
if possible than beforeW
