Walking toward the library I pass three children | B |
staring down at a dead crow and daring each other | C |
to poke it with a stick | D |
I stop too because I know a little about crows | E |
how for instance they are different from ravens | F |
I could tell these well dressed children that | G |
ravens are black a with purple tint while crows | E |
are denied that royal hue A crow's tale is squared off | H |
like the crew cut on the boy at Menchie's who hands | I |
them the expensive frozen yogurt | J |
while a raven's tale is triangular a shape discovered | K |
by the Persians and beloved by the th century | L |
mathematician Blaise Pascal Furthermore ravens | F |
love solitude and prefer remote hills and woods | M |
while a crow will perch on a stop sign and brag | N |
about it endlessly | L |
But that isn't what they are concerned about | O |
They want to know about Death And for that | G |
I would have to fetch the skull from my desktop | P |
and ask the sun to hide its face behind a dark | Q |
galleon shaped cloud and then | R |
Oh wait They're offering me the stick All | S |
they really want to know is will I poke the corpse | T |
Of course And when I do and it moves they | U |
run away shrieking and delighted More alive | V |
if possible than before | W |
