Shine, Perishing Republic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFAB GHDAAIJDKBLF

While this America settles in the mould of its vulgarity heavily thickeningA
to empireB
And protest only a bubble in the molten mass pops and sighs out and theC
mass hardensD
I sadly smiling remember that the flower fades to make fruit the fruit rotsE
to make earthF
Out of the mother and through the spring exultances ripeness and decaA
dence and home to the motherB
-
You making haste haste on decay not blameworthy life is good be it stubG
bornly long or suddenlyH
A mortal splendor meteors are not needed less than mountainsD
shine perishing republicA
But for my children I would have them keep their distance from the thickA
ening center corruptionI
Never has been compulsory when the cities lie at the monster's feet thereJ
are left the mountainsD
And boys be in nothing so moderate as in love of man a clever servantK
insufferable masterB
There is the trap that catches noblest spirits that caught they sayL
God when he walked on earthF
