Hope Is Not For The Wise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGHGIJ

Hope is not for the wise fear is for foolsA
Change and the world we think are racing to a fallB
Open eyed and helpless in every newscast that is the newsC
The time's events would seem mere chaos but allB
Drift the one deadly direction But this is onlyD
The August thunder of the age not the NovemberE
Wise men hope nothing the wise are naturally lonelyD
And think November as good as April the wise rememberE
That Caesar and even final Augustulus had heirsF
And men lived on rich unplanned life on earthG
After the foreign wars and the civil wars the border warsH
And the barbarians music and religion honor and mirthG
Renewed life's lost enchantments But if life evenI
Had perished utterly Oh perfect loveliness of earth and heavenJ
