To Robert Nichols Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDBDAABEFCDGHHFDD HIIFF

From Frise on the Somme in February in answer to a letter saying I am just finishing my 'Faun's Holiday ' I wish you were here to feed him with cherriesA
-
-
Here by a snowbound riverB
In scrapen holes we shiverB
And like old bitterns weC
Boom to you plaintivelyC
Robert how can I rhymeD
Verses for your desireB
Sleek fauns and cherry timeD
Vague music and green treesA
Hot sun and gentle breezeA
England in June attireB
And life born young againE
For your gay goatish bruteF
Drunk with warm melodyC
Singing on beds of thymeD
With red and rolling eyeG
All the Devonian plainH
Lips dark with juicy stainH
Ears hung with bobbing fruitF
Why should I keep him timeD
Why in this cold and rimeD
Where even to dream is painH
No Robert there's no reasonI
Cherries are out of seasonI
Ice grips at branch and rootF
And singing birds are muteF
