Thunder At Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH CJKJ LALA

Restless and hot two children layA
Plagued with uneasy dreamsB
Each wandered lonely through false dayA
A twilight torn with screamsB
-
True to the bed time story BenC
Pursued his wounded bearD
Ann dreamed of chattering monkey menC
Of snakes twined in her hairD
-
Now high aloft above the townE
The thick clouds gather and breakF
A flash a roar and rain drives downE
Aghast the young things wakeF
-
Trembling for what their terror wasG
Surprised by instant doomH
With lightning in the looking glassI
Thunder that rocks the roomH
-
The monkeys' paws patter againC
Snakes hiss and flash their eyesJ
The bear roars out in hideous painK
Ann prays her brother criesJ
-
They cannot guess could not be toldL
How soon comes careless dayA
With birds and dandelion goldL
Wet grass cool scents of MayA
