To Thos. Floyd Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDEED

How fares it friend since I by Fate annoy'dA
Left the old home in need of livelier playB
For body and mind How fare this many a dayB
The stubborn thews and ageless heart of FloydA
If not too well with country sport employ'dA
Visit my flock the breezy hill that theyB
Choose for their fold and see for thence you mayB
From rising walls all roofless yet and voidA
The lovely city thronging tower and spireC
The mind of the wide landscape dreaming deepD
Grey silvery in the vale a shrine where keepD
Memorian hopes their pale celestial fireE
Like man's immortal conscience of desireE
The spirit that watcheth in me ev'n in my sleepD
