The Stranger Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HEHE IBAB

Never am I so aloneA
As when I walk among the crowdB
Blurred masks of stern or grinning stoneA
Unmeaning eyes and voices loudB
-
Gaze dares not encounter gazeC
Humbled I turn my head asideD
When suddenly there is a faceE
Pale subdued and grievous eyedD
-
Ah I know that visage meekF
Those trembling lips the eyes that shineG
But turn from that which they would seekF
With an air piteous divineG
-
There is not a line or scarH
Seal of a sorrow or disgraceE
But I know like sigils areH
Burned in my heart and on my faceE
-
Speak O speak Thou art the oneI
But thou hast passed with sad head bowedB
And never am I so aloneA
As when I walk among the crowdB
