Fulfilment Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH ABAB

Was there love once I have forgotten herA
Was there grief once grief yet is mineB
Other loves I have men rough but men who stirA
More grief more joy than love of thee and thineB
-
Faces cheerful full of whimsical mirthC
Lined by the wind burned by the sunD
Bodies enraptured by the abounding earthC
As whose children we are brethren oneD
-
And any moment may descend hot deathE
To shatter limbs pulp tear blastF
Beloved soldiers who love rough life and breathE
Not less for dying faithful to the lastF
-
O the fading eyes the grimed face turned bonyG
Oped mouth gushing fallen headH
Lessening pressure of a hand shrunk clammed and stonyG
O sudden spasm release of the deadH
-
Was there love once I have forgotten herA
Was there grief once grief yet is mineB
O loved living dying heroic soldierA
All all my joy my grief my love are thineB
