It went many yearsA
But at last came a knockB
And I thought of the doorC
With no lock to lockB
-
I blew out the lightD
I tip toed the floorC
And raised both handsE
In prayer to the doorC
-
But the knock came againF
My window was wideG
I climbed on the sillH
And descended outsideG
-
Back over the sillH
I bade a Come inI
To whoever the knockB
At the door may have beenI
-
So at a knockB
I emptied my cageJ
To hide in the worldK
And alter with ageJ
