In the tumult of free leaves on high | A |
What are you in the shadow of trees | B |
Engaged up there with the light and breeze | B |

Less than the coral root you know | C |
That is content with the daylight low | C |
And has no leaves at all of its own | D |
Whose spotted flowers hang meanly down | E |

You grasp the bark by a rugged pleat | F |
And look up small from the forest's feet | F |
The only leaf it drops goes wide | G |
Your name not written on either side | G |

You linger your little hour and are gone | H |
And still the wood sweep leafily on | I |
Not even missing the coral root flower | J |
You took as a trophy of the hour | J |
