Good Hours Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

I had for my winter evening walkA
No one at all with whom to talkA
But I had the cottages in a rowB
Up to their shining eyes in snowB
-
And I thought I had the folk withinC
I had the sound of a violinC
I had a glimpse through curtain lacesD
Of youthful forms and youthful facesD
-
I had such company outward boundE
I went till there were no cottages foundE
I turned and repented but coming backF
I saw no window but that was blackF
-
Over the snow my creaking feetG
Disturbed the slumbering village streetG
Like profanation by your leaveH
At ten o'clock of a winter eveH
