Gathering Leaves Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHG IJKJ LMNM OPQP

Spades take up leavesA
No better than spoonsB
And bags full of leavesA
Are light as balloonsB
-
I make a great noiseC
Of rustling all dayD
Like rabbit and deerE
Running awayD
-
But the mountains I raiseF
Elude my embraceG
Flowing over my armsH
And into my faceG
-
I may load and unloadI
Again and againJ
Till I fill the whole shedK
And what have I thenJ
-
Next to nothing for weightL
And since they grew dullerM
From contact with earthN
Next to nothing for colorM
-
Next to nothing for useO
But a crop is a cropP
And who's to say whereQ
The harvest shall stopP
