Desert Places Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABA CCDC CCBC CCEC

Snow falling and night falling fast oh fastA
In a field I looked into going pastA
And the ground almost covered smooth in snowB
But a few weeds and stubble showing lastA
-
The woods around it have it it is theirsC
All animals are smothered in their lairsC
I am too absent spirited to countD
The loneliness includes me unawaresC
-
And lonely as it is that lonelinessC
Will be more lonely ere it will be lessC
A blanker whiteness of benighted snowB
With no expression nothing to expressC
-
They cannot scare me with their empty spacesC
Between stars on stars where no human race isC
I have it in me so much nearer homeE
To scare myself with my own desert placesC
