Acquainted With The Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCB CDC DAD AA

I have been one acquainted with the nightA
I have walked out in rain and back in rainB
I have outwalked the furthest city lightA
I have looked down the saddest city laneB
I have passed by the watchman on his beatC
And dropped my eyes unwilling to explainB
-
I have stood still and stopped the sound of feetC
When far away an interrupted cryD
Came over houses from another streetC
-
But not to call me back or say good byeD
And further still at an unearthly heightA
O luminary clock against the skyD
-
Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor rightA
I have been one acquainted with the nightA
