When Old Wounds Bleed Again Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEDE FGGFHIHI JKKJ

When old wounds bleed againA
In the silence of the nightB
And mixt with sweet delightB
Wells up the stream of painC
Is it less hard to endureD
That when the sword struck firstE
So keen with edge so sureD
Was that wild hour the worstE
-
O then a too strong smartF
O'erwhelmed the senses' powerG
Now in some tranquil hourG
When fortified the heartF
Is capable at easeH
Of sorrow now returnsI
By exquisite degreesH
Pain and in silence burnsI
-
Is this still woe forlornJ
Less than that fierce despairK
Perhaps 'tis worse to bearK
Because 'tis easier borneJ
