To Women Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKGK LMNN NONO

Your hearts are lifted up your heartsA
That have foreknown the utter priceB
Your hearts burn upward like a flameC
Of splendour and of sacrificeB
-
For you you too to battle goD
Not with the marching drums and cheersE
But in the watch of solitudeF
And through the boundless night of fearsE
-
Swift swifter than those hawks of warG
Those threatening wings that pulse the airH
Far as the vanward ranks are setI
You are gone before them you are thereH
-
And not a shot comes blind with deathJ
And not a stab of steel is pressedK
Home but invisibly it toreG
And entered first a woman's breastK
-
Amid the thunder of the gunsL
The lightnings of the lance and swordM
Your hope your dread your throbbing prideN
Your infinite passion is outpouredN
-
From hearts that are as one high heartN
Withholding naught from doom and baleO
Burningly offered up to bleedN
To bear to break but not to failO
