The Test Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CBCDBD

Naked reality and menace nearA
As fire to scorching flesh shall not affrightB
The spirit that sees with danger sharpened sightB
What it must save or die for not the mereA
Name but the thing now doubly trebly dearA
Freedom the breath those hands would choke the lightB
They would put out the clean air they would blightB
Making earth rank with hate and greed and fearA
-
Now no man's loss is private all share allC
Oh each of us a soldier stands to dayB
Put to the proof and summoned to the callC
One will one faith one peril Hearts be highD
Most in the hour that's darkest Come what mayB
The soul in us is found and shall not dieD
