The Storm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABACADAAEAAFAGAABHI AJKILMAA| Stooping over London skies convulsed | A |
| With thunder moved a rumour of storm remote | A |
| Hushed them and birds flew troubled The gradual clouds | B |
| Up from the West climbing above the East | A |
| Glowed sullen as copper embossed against their gloom | C |
| Like ghosts astonished thronged the steeples white | A |
| Still with absorbed hurry the streets' uproar | D |
| Ran shadowed by strange unquiet as vaguely pursued | A |
| Lone workers from drear windows looked and sighed | A |
| Nearer drooped the sky's contracted face | E |
| The face of a Titan in punishment heavily bowed | A |
| As painful sweat the drops fell loud at last | A |
| With silent shivering flashes of angry flame | F |
| Long stifled his deep thunder burst and groaned | A |
| Then crawling over the banks of darkness broke | G |
| And loosened splendour showered its arrows abroad | A |
| Now opposite the retreating storm aghast | A |
| In full recovered sun new dazzling clouds | B |
| Alp beyond Alp glitter in awful snow | H |
| Men stop in the street to wonder The brilliance runs | I |
| Washing with silent waves the town opprest | A |
| Startles squalid rooms with a sudden smile | J |
| Enters gloomy courts and glories there | K |
| Strange as a vision the wide expanded heavens | I |
| Open the living wind with nearness breathes | L |
| On weary faces of women of many cares | M |
| They stand at their doors and watch with a soothed spirit | A |
| The marvellous West asleep in endless light | A |
