Surrender Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCA DEEFD GHHIG JKKLM NIION PQQRP BIISB

Pale was the early dayA
Fog white the winter airB
When up a hill side bareB
Roughened with rimy grassC
I took my thoughtless wayA
-
As my feet strayed uphillD
I felt the blank cloud floatE
Past and bedew my coatE
At unawares I foundF
A gate and there stood stillD
-
And on a sudden beholdG
Above the virgin blueH
Blue bathing my heart throughH
A shock of blueness brightI
Pierced with an eye of goldG
-
And there uprising tallJ
From mist to warm sapphireK
Straight up like windless fireK
A poplar stood aloneL
White dream fresh virginalM
-
Rime robed her pure as snowN
O white was never whiteI
As this which thrilled my sightI
I stood still in the mistO
Dazzled entranced aglowN
-
For in a dazzling driftP
The rime rained down it gleamedQ
It shivered soft it streamedQ
Radiant as tears of joyR
When the heart gives all its giftP
-
Alone in the still still airB
To the divine lone heightI
Of blue this poplar whiteI
Like virgin ecstasyS
Stript all her beauty bareB
