Sonnet: Ypres Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEECD

She was a city of patience of proud nameA
Dimmed by neglecting Time of beauty and lossB
Of acquiescence in the creeping mossB
But on a sudden fierce destruction cameA
Tigerishly pouncing thunderbolt and flameA
Showered on her streets to shatter them and tossB
Her ancient towers to ashes Riven acrossB
She rose dead into never dying fameA
White against heavens of storm a ghost she is knownC
To the world's ends The myriads of the braveD
Sleep round her Desolately glorifiedE
She moon like draws her own far moving tideE
Of sorrow and memory toward her each aloneC
Glide the dark dreams that seek an English graveD
