May Evening Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKFKF| So late the rustling shower was heard | A |
| Yet now the a ry west is still | B |
| The wet leaves flash and lightly stirred | A |
| Great drops out of the lilac spill | B |
| Peacefully blown the ashen clouds | C |
| Uncurtain height on height of sky | D |
| Here as I wander beauty crowds | C |
| In freshness keen upon my eye | D |
| - | |
| Now the shorn turf a glowing green | E |
| Takes in the massy cedar shade | F |
| And through the poplar's trembling screen | E |
| Fires of the evening blush and fade | F |
| Each way my marvelling senses feel | G |
| Swift odour light and luminous hue | H |
| Of leaf and flower upon them steal | G |
| The songs of birds pierce my heart through | H |
| - | |
| The tulip clear like yellow flame | I |
| Burns upward from the gloomy mould | J |
| As though for passion forth they came | I |
| Red hearts of peonies unfold | J |
| And perfumes tender sweet intense | K |
| Enter me delicate as a blade | F |
| The lilac odour wounds my sense | K |
| Of the rich rose I am afraid | F |
