Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKFKFSo late the rustling shower was heard | A |
Yet now the a ry west is still | B |
The wet leaves flash and lightly stirred | A |
Great drops out of the lilac spill | B |
Peacefully blown the ashen clouds | C |
Uncurtain height on height of sky | D |
Here as I wander beauty crowds | C |
In freshness keen upon my eye | D |
- | |
Now the shorn turf a glowing green | E |
Takes in the massy cedar shade | F |
And through the poplar's trembling screen | E |
Fires of the evening blush and fade | F |
Each way my marvelling senses feel | G |
Swift odour light and luminous hue | H |
Of leaf and flower upon them steal | G |
The songs of birds pierce my heart through | H |
- | |
The tulip clear like yellow flame | I |
Burns upward from the gloomy mould | J |
As though for passion forth they came | I |
Red hearts of peonies unfold | J |
And perfumes tender sweet intense | K |
Enter me delicate as a blade | F |
The lilac odour wounds my sense | K |
Of the rich rose I am afraid | F |
