Fide Et Literis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEFCF

When the long clouded spirit of Europe drewA
Life from Greek springs frost could no longer bindB
And old truth shone like fresh dawn on the blindB
Our Founder sowed his pregnant seed he knewA
No crabbed rule but rather chose a clueA
That should emband us of our historied kindB
Comrades and keep in us a morning mindB
Since to the wise Learning is always NewA
-
In Faith and Letters he enshrined his lightC
Faith the divine adventure that holds onD
Through this world's forest into worlds unknownE
And Letters that since speech on earth beganF
As one unended sentence burning writeC
The hope the triumph and the tears of ManF
