Down In A Shaded Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEEFF BGHGIIBBJK KLMLNNOOKK KBKBBBPPFF

Down in a shaded gardenA
I laid upon earth my headB
The deep trees murmured darkly freshC
Over my bedB
I looked through living leaves to the skyD
Odours and songs were quivering nighD
The warm grass touched my cheek as I layE
And care from me was far awayE
As a child to its mother to Earth I drewF
I felt her trueF
-
Of Life sweet Life enamouredB
I closed my eyes to feelG
The sweetness pierce to the inmost veinsH
And the whole heart stealG
Sacred Life more sweet and fairI
Than all her children of earth and airI
Fountain dearer than joy in the breastB
In the blue I adored in the grass I caressedB
Then Earth my mother leaned to my earJ
And spoke me clearK
-
To thee the rose her odourK
Her glory dedicatesL
And thee the pink's sweet budded fringeM
Of snow awaitsL
For thee is the sprinkled fire of the broomN
For thee the azalea burns her bloomN
O child does thy heart not tell thee howO
Thy joy is answered from every boughO
In the throat of the bird in the sap of the treeK
'Tis all for theeK
-
Stricken with joy and wonderK
I raised my eyes aroundB
And saw what mystery flowered for meK
In that enchanted groundB
The roses the roses rich entwinedB
Heavy with love to me inclinedB
Yearning up from the dusk of deathP
They trembled toward me with living breathP
O none that loved me is dead I knewF
And each is trueF
