Commercial Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIJ EKLK LEME NOPO QER STUT VCNC

Gross with protruding earsA
Sleek hair brisk glance fleshy and yet alertB
Red full and satisfiedC
Cased in obtuseness confident not to be hurtB
-
He sits at a little tableD
In the crowded congenial glare and noise jinglingE
Coin in his pocket sipsF
His glass with hard eye impudently singlingE
-
A woman here and thereG
Women and men they are all priced in his thoughtH
All commodities stakedI
In the market sooner or later sold and boughtJ
-
'Were I he ' you are thinkingE
You with the dreamer's forehead and pure eyesK
'What should I lose AllL
All that is worthy the striving for all my prizeK
-
'All the truth of me allL
Life that is wonder pity and fear requiringE
Utter joy utter painM
From the heart that the infinite hurts with deep desiringE
-
'Why is it I am not heN
Chance The grace of God The mystery's planO
He too is human stuffP
A kneading of the old brotherly slime of manO
-
'Am I a lover of menQ
And turn abhorring as from fat slug or snakeE
Lives obstinate in me tooR
Something the power of angels could not unmake '-
-
O self questioner NoneS
Unlocks your answer Steadily look nor flinchT
This belongs to your kindU
And knows its aim and fails not itself at a pinchT
-
It is here in the world and worksV
Not done with yet Up then let the test be triedC
Dare your uttermost beN
Completely and of your own like him be justifiedC
