Carvalhos Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBC DEDFEF GBGHBH IJIKJK LEMJEJ

Earth I love thee wellA
And well dost thou requite meB
I have no tongue to tellA
How this day thou hast thrilledC
With wonder to delight meB
My heart intensely stilledC
-
On the white walled knoll I standD
And feel beneath me glowingE
The noon hushed lovely landD
Hills beyond hills and fewF
Far towns a faint crest showingE
Faint in the rounding blueF
-
Blue sea and radiant skyG
Blue sky and mountain marryB
And the mind raised up on highG
Onward and onward springsH
Where'er she choose to tarryB
On every side are wingsH
-
To the sun the sun bathed pinesI
Their strength and sweetness renderJ
From where the far foam shinesI
Like the rim of a dazzling shieldK
All fervent things and tenderJ
Life joy and perfume yieldK
-
Me too with mastering charmL
From husks of dead days freeingE
The sun draws up to be warmM
And to bloom in this sweet hourJ
The stem of all my beingE
Waited to bear this flowerJ
