August Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKDK LMNM

In drooping leaves of the planeA
Hangs blue the early heatB
Stirless a delicate shadeC
Sleeps on the parching streetB
-
I wander this listless morningD
By the banks of the dazzling riverE
On the hot stones lean where toward meF
Lights from the water quiverE
-
And clasping hands upon eyesG
I plunge my thought in a dreamH
Of days when the sharp air stungI
And the ice crushed cold in the streamH
-
Vainly on body and mindJ
Has the tyrant sun his willK
And to me on the hot stone leaningD
The city is faint and stillK
-
Is faint as listening sandsL
Where awed by the heavy calmM
Of the desert heaven listensN
For ever alone the palmM
