At Rheims 23 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BC B D EF E G CH C B IC I C JK L

Within the pillars soar to gloomA
-
Lit by the glimmering RoseB
Spirits of beauty shrined in stoneC
-
Afar from mortal woesB
-
Hearing not though their haunted shadeD
-
Is stricken and all aroundE
With splintering flash and brutal crashF
-
The ghostly aisles resoundE
-
And there upon the pavement stretchedG
-
The German wounded groanC
To see the dropping flames of deathH
-
And feel the shells their ownC
-
Too fierce the fire Helped by their foesB
-
They stagger out to airI
The green gray coats are seen are knownC
-
Through all the crowded squareI
-
Ah now for vengeance Deep the groanC
-
A death knell QuietlyJ
Soldiers unsling their rifles liftK
-
And aim with steady eyeL
