A Mother's Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBA CDCDDC EFEFFE GHIHHG AJAKKA

Over fast closed baby eyesA
In the garden's golden airB
Blossom white the butterfliesA
Hover hurry part and pairB
Sudden shinings flown nowhereB
Blue above the unbounded skiesA
-
Little one O downy headC
O fingers clasping shaped and smallD
Laid in soft nest of your bedC
How the trees are Titan tallD
Over you that slumber allD
Ignorant of hope and dreadC
-
O so small and all aroundE
Life so vast works wonders newF
Yet to you is set no boundE
What you shall desire and doF
Find and fashion and hold trueF
Deeps you hold no thought can soundE
-
You are sought by powers unknownG
On your trembling heart strings playH
Airs unheard O little oneI
Whisperings of far awayH
Music made of day and dayH
Lands of promise all your ownG
-
Wide as heaven the secreciesA
You enfold ev'n now ev'n hereJ
You presage infinitiesA
While above in hope in fearK
My white wishes far and nearK
Hover like the butterfliesA
