Fawnia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG HIHIJKJKLL

Ah were she pitiful as she is fairA
Or but as mild as she is seeming soB
Then were my hopes greater than my despairA
Then all the world were heaven nothing woeB
Ah were her heart relenting as her handC
That seems to melt even with the mildest touchD
Then knew I where to seat me in a landC
Under wide heavens but yet there is not suchD
So as she shows she seems the budding roseE
Yet sweeter far than is an earthly flowerF
Sovran of beauty like the spray she growsE
Compass'd she is with thorns and canker'd flowerF
Yet were she willing to be pluck'd and wornG
She would be gather'd though she grew on thornG
-
Ah when she sings all music else be stillH
For none must be compar egrave d to her noteI
Ne'er breathed such glee from Philomela's billH
Nor from the morning singer's swelling throatI
Ah when she riseth from her blissful bedJ
She comforts all the world as doth the sunK
And at her sight the night's foul vapour 's fledJ
When she is set the gladsome day is doneK
O glorious sun imagine me the westL
Shine in my arms and set thou in my breastL
