Cupid Abroad Was Lated Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII

CUPID abroad was lated in the nightA
His wings were wet with ranging in the rainB
Harbor he sought to me he took his flightA
To dry his plumes I heard the boy complainB
I oped the door and granted his desireC
I rose myself and made the wag a fireC
-
Looking more narrow by the fire's flameD
I spied his quiver hanging by his backE
Doubting the boy might my misfortune frameD
I would have gone for fear of further wrackE
But what I drad did me poor wretch betideF
For forth he drew an arrow from his sideF
-
He pierced the quick and I began to startG
A pleasing wound but that it was too highH
His shaft procured a sharp yet sugared smartG
Away he flew for why is wings were dryH
But left the arrow sticking in my breastI
That sore I grieved I welcomed such a guestI
