Long Long Ago Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLFMDJJJ C

Long long ago I went through the castle of leavesA
Yellowing slowly in the mossB
And far away barnacles clung desperately to rocks in the seaC
Your memory better still your tender presence was there tooD
Transparent and mineE
Nothing had changed but everything had aged at the same rate as my temples andF
my eyesG
Don't you just love that platitude Let me go it's so rare for me this ironicH
satisfactionI
Everything had aged except your presenceJ
Long long ago I went through the surf on a lonely dayK
The waves were unreal even thenL
The hulk of the shipwreck you knew about remember that night of storms andF
kisses was it a ship or a delicate woman's hat rolled by the wind in the springM
rain was there tooD
After that its happiness and dancing in the hawthornesJ
The aperitifs had changed the names and colorsJ
Of the rainbows framing the mirrorsJ
-
Long long ago you loved meC
