Winter Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHJ KLKLMNMN OPOPQBQC

Dear Boy throw that Icicle downA
And sweep this deep Snow from the doorB
Old Winter comes on with a frownA
A terrible frown for the poorC
In a Season so rude and forlornD
How can age how can infancy bearE
The silent neglect and the scornD
Of those who have plenty to spareE
-
Fresh broach'd is my Cask of old AleF
Well tim'd now the frost is set inG
Here's Job come to tell us a taleF
We'll make him at home to a pinG
While my Wife and I bask o'er the fireH
The roll of the Seasons will proveI
That Time may diminish desireH
But cannot extinguish true loveJ
-
O the pleasures of neighbourly chatK
If you can but keep scandal awayL
To learn what the world has been atK
And what the great Orators sayL
Though the Wind through the crevices singM
And Hail down the chimney reboundN
I'm happier than many a kingM
While the Bellows blow Bass to the soundN
-
Abundance was never my lotO
But out of the trifle that's givenP
That no curse may alight on my CotO
I'll distribute the bounty of HeavenP
The fool and the slave gather wealthQ
But if I add nought to my storeB
Yet while I keep conscience in healthQ
I've a Mine that will never grow poorC
