Thy favourite Bird is soaring stillA
My Lucy haste thee o'er the daleB
The Stream's let loose and from the MillA
All silent comes the balmy galeB
Yet so lightly on its wayC
Seems to whisper 'Holiday 'D
-
The pathway flowers that bending meetE
And give the Meads their yellow hueF
The May bush and the Meadow sweetE
Reserve their fragrance all for youF
Why then Lucy why delayC
Let us share the HolidayC
-
Since there thy smiles my charming MaidG
Are with unfeigned rapture seenH
To Beauty be the homage paidG
Come claim the triumph of the GreenH
Here's my hand come come awayC
Share the merry HolidayC
-
A promise too my Lucy madeG
And shall my heart its claim resignI
That ere May flowers again should fadeG
Her heart and hand should both be mineI
Hark 'ye Lucy this is MayC
Love shall crown our HolidayC
