The Thought Of Her Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDBCDBMy love for thee doth take me unaware | A |
When most with lesser things my brain is wrought | B |
As in some nimble interchange of thought | B |
The silence enters and the talkers stare | A |
Suddenly I am still and thou art there | A |
A viewless visitant and unbesought | B |
And all my thinking trembles into nought | B |
And all my being opens like a prayer | A |
Thou art the lifted Chalice in my soul | C |
And I a dim church at the thought of thee | D |
Brief be the moment but the mass is said | B |
The benediction like an aureole | C |
Is on my spirit and shuddering through me | D |
A rapture like the rapture of the dead | B |
