Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCC DEEDDFFF GG

THE CROCUSES in the SquareA
Lend a winsome touch to the MayB
The clouds are vanished awayB
The weather is bland and fairA
Now peace seems everywhereA
Hark to the raucous sullen criesC
Extra extra tersely fliesC
The news and a great hope mounts or diesC
-
About the bulletin boardsD
Dark knots of people surgeE
Strained faces show then mergeE
In the inconspicuous hordesD
That yet are the Nation s lordsD
Extra extra Big fight at seaF
Was the luck with us Is it victoryF
Dear God they died for you and meF
-
Meanwhile the crocuses down the streetG
With heaven s own patience are calm and sweetG
