Cradles Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH AIJC

Along the quay the great shipsA
that ride the swell in silenceB
take no notice of the cradlesC
that the hands of the women rockD
-
But the day of farewells will comeE
when the women must weepF
and curious men are temptedG
towards the horizons that lure themH
-
And that day the great shipsA
sailing away from the diminishing portI
feel their bulk held backJ
by the spirits of the distant cradlesC
