Captain Captain CaptainA
I see you no moreB
On the gravestone were my words inscribedC
Above your body which lies like a mold in the graveD
Underneath the sunA
You travelled far through the world pacifyingE
With your Rifle you subdued the stirrerB
Your hat marked an end to up stirB
With poison charms war and sickness you have dwelledF
In baying you found courageG
In death you got fortitudeH
Death slams down in the midst of your conversationA
You who stood alone by the window where cannons and missile fly pastI
When your best friend died in the war you stood aloneJ
When you heard of your wife s death you still stood in the war for the countryB
If a peon had fallen it wouldn t matterB
If a churl had been killed we would have moved onK
I question if you ve seen your friends for decadesL
Your alertness saved meB
Your dexterity saved our countryB
Until the last spill of your bloodM
Until your trough ran outN
You stood to save usO
Oh captain Captain CaptainA
His lips are paleP
His feet are coldQ
His pulse can t be feltR
I with a mournful soulS
Write to allay your heartT
I write to allay the tumult of your passionA
