| Mama never thought of light | G |
| until you came and my life you light | G |
| Mama never thought things would be alright | G |
| but still you brought a flicker of light | G |

| Mama never want this to go unsaid | H |
| so here in this poem i write to you | D |
| God sent us a blessing | I |
| you are our blessing | I |
| And today marks the day | J |
| God brought you home to us | K |
| So I tell you son take the lead | H |
