To The Memory Of Mary Young Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABBCC DDEEFFGG HHIIJJKK LLMMNNON PPQQRRSS

God has his plans and what if weA
With our sight be too blind to seeA
Their full fruition cannot heA
Who made it solve the mysteryA
One whom we loved has fall'n asleepB
Not died although her calm be deepB
Some new unknown and strange surpriseC
In Heaven holds enrapt her eyesC
-
And can you blame her that her gazeD
Is turned away from earthly waysD
When to her eyes God's light and loveE
Have giv'n the view of things aboveE
A gentle spirit sweetly goodF
The pearl of precious womanhoodF
Who heard the voice of duty clearG
And found her mission soon and nearG
-
She loved all nature flowers fairH
The warmth of sun the kiss of airH
The birds that filled the sky with songI
The stream that laughed its way alongI
Her home to her was shrine and throneJ
But one love held her not aloneJ
She sought out poverty and griefK
Who touched her robe and found reliefK
-
So sped she in her Master's workL
Too busy and too brave to shirkL
When through the silence dusk and dimM
God called her and she fled to himM
We wonder at the early callN
And tears of sorrow can but fallN
For her o'er whom we spread the pallO
But faith sweet faith is over allN
-
The house is dust the voice is dumbP
But through undying years to comeP
The spark that glowed within her soulQ
Shall light our footsteps to the goalQ
She went her way but oh she trodR
The path that led her straight to GodR
Such lives as this put death to scornS
They lose our day to find God's mornS
