To Louise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABBAA CCDDEEAA FFBBGGHH BBIJKKAA

Oh the poets may sing of their Lady IrenesA
And may rave in their rhymes about wonderful queensA
But I throw my poetical wings to the breezeA
And soar in a song to my Lady LouiseA
A sweet little maid who is dearer I weenB
Than any fair duchess or even a queenB
When speaking of her I can't plod in my proseA
For she 's the wee lassie who gave me a roseA
-
Since poets from seeing a lady's lip curledC
Have written fair verse that has sweetened the worldC
Why then should not I give the space of an hourD
To making a song in return for a flowerD
I have found in my life it has not been so longE
There are too few of flowers too little of songE
So out of that blossom this lay of mine growsA
For the dear little lady who gave me the roseA
-
I thank God for innocence dearer than ArtF
That lights on a by way which leads to the heartF
And led by an impulse no less than divineB
Walks into the temple and sits at the shrineB
I would rather pluck daisies that grow in the wildG
Or take one simple rose from the hand of a childG
Then to breathe the rich fragrance of flowers that bideH
In the gardens of luxury passion and prideH
-
I know not my wee one how came you to knowB
Which way to my heart was the right way to goB
Unless in your purity soul clean and clearI
God whispers his messages into your earJ
You have now had my song let me end with a prayerK
That your life may be always sweet happy and fairK
That your joys may be many and absent your woesA
O dear little lady who gave me the roseA
