A youth went faring up and downA

He fared him to the market townA

And there he met a maiden fairC
With hazel eyes and auburn hairC
His heart went from him then and thereC

But not a flower was fair as sheD

He bought a rose and sighed a sighE
Ah dearest maiden would that IE
Might dare the seller too to buyE

I'm not sir in the market yetB

Your love must cool upon a shelfF
Tho' much I sell for gold and pelfF
I 'm yet too young to sell myselfF

And looked he at the maid once moreG

Then loud he cried Fair maiden ifF
Too young to sell now as I liveF
