The Sparrow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGHI| A little bird with plumage brown | A |
| Beside my window flutters down | A |
| A moment chirps its little strain | B |
| Ten taps upon my window pane | B |
| And chirps again and hops along | C |
| To call my notice to its song | C |
| But I work on nor heed its lay | D |
| Till in neglect it flies away | D |
| - | |
| So birds of peace and hope and love | E |
| Come fluttering earthward from above | E |
| To settle on life's window sills | F |
| And ease our load of earthly ills | F |
| But we in traffic's rush and din | G |
| Too deep engaged to let them in | G |
| With deadened heart and sense plod on | H |
| Nor know our loss till they are gone | I |
