The Seedling Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHG IJKJ LMKM KNAN ADND OPLP

As a quiet little seedlingA
Lay within its darksome bedB
To itself it fell a talkingA
And this is what it saidB
-
I am not so very robustC
But I 'll do the best I canD
And the seedling from that momentE
Its work of life beganD
-
So it pushed a little leafletF
Up into the light of dayG
To examine the surroundingsH
And show the rest the wayG
-
The leaflet liked the prospectI
So it called its brother StemJ
Then two other leaflets heard itK
And quickly followed themJ
-
To be sure the haste and hurryL
Made the seedling sweat and pantM
But almost before it knew itK
It found itself a plantM
-
The sunshine poured upon itK
And the clouds they gave a showerN
And the little plant kept growingA
Till it found itself a flowerN
-
Little folks be like the seedlingA
Always do the best you canD
Every child must share life's laborN
Just as well as every manD
-
And the sun and showers will help youO
Through the lonesome struggling hoursP
Till you raise to light and beautyL
Virtue's fair unfading flowersP
