The Secret Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DBDBEE FGFGHH

What says the wind to the waving treesA
What says the wave to the riverB
What means the sigh in the passing breezeA
Why do the rushes quiverB
Have you not heard the fainting cryC
Of the flowers that said Good bye good byeC
-
List how the gray dove moans and grievesD
Under the woodland coverB
List to the drift of the falling leavesD
List to the wail of the loverB
Have you not caught the message heardE
Already by wave and breeze and birdE
-
Come come away to the river's bankF
Come in the early morningG
Come when the grass with dew is dankF
There you will find the warningG
A hint in the kiss of the quickening airH
Of the secret that birds and breezes bearH
