Ships That Pass In The Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBA ADEDA AAFAA

Out in the sky the great dark clouds are massingA
I look far out into the pregnant nightB
Where I can hear a solemn booming gunC
And catch the gleaming of a random lightB
That tells me that the ship I seek is passing passingA
-
My tearful eyes my soul's deep hurt are glassingA
For I would hail and check that ship of shipsD
I stretch my hands imploring cry aloudE
My voice falls dead a foot from mine own lipsD
And but its ghost doth reach that vessel passing passingA
-
O Earth O Sky O Ocean both surpassingA
O heart of mine O soul that dreads the darkA
Is there no hope for me Is there no wayF
That I may sight and check that speeding barkA
Which out of sight and sound is passing passingA
