Nutting Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEC FFDGFFHG DDHIDDDI DDFFDDDF

The November sun invites meA
And although the chill wind smites meA
I will wander to the woodlandB
Where the laden trees awaitC
And with loud and joyful singingD
I will set the forest ringingD
As if I were king of AutumnE
And Dame Nature were my mateC
-
While the squirrel in his gambolsF
Fearless round about me amblesF
As if he were bent on showingD
In my kingdom he'd a shareG
While my warm blood leaps and dashesF
And my eye with freedom flashesF
As my soul drinks deep and deeperH
Of the magic in the airG
-
There's a pleasure found in nuttingD
All life's cares and griefs outshuttingD
That is fuller far and betterH
Than what prouder sports impartI
Who could help a carol trillingD
As he sees the baskets fillingD
Why the flow of song keeps runningD
O'er the high walls of the heartI
-
So when I am home returningD
When the sun is lowly burningD
I will once more wake the echoesF
With a happy song of praiseF
For the golden sunlight blessingD
And the breezes' soft caressingD
And the precious boon of livingD
In the sweet November daysF
