Little Lucy Landman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHAHAAIA AIIIJEFE FKBKLIAI FMIMNOPO

Oh the day has set me dreamingA
In a strange half solemn wayB
Of the feelings I experiencedC
On another long past dayB
Of the way my heart made musicD
When the buds began to blowE
And o' little Lucy LandmanF
Whom I loved long years agoE
-
It 's in spring the poet tells usG
That we turn to thoughts of loveH
And our hearts go out a wooingA
With the lapwing and the doveH
But whene'er the soul goes seekingA
Its twin soul upon the wingA
I 've a notion backed by mem'ryI
That it's love that makes the springA
-
I have heard a robin singingA
When the boughs were brown and bareI
And the chilling hand of winterI
Scattered jewels through the airI
And in spite of dates and seasonsJ
It was always spring I knowE
When I loved Lucy LandmanF
In the days of long agoE
-
Ah my little Lucy LandmanF
I remember you as wellK
As if 't were only yesterdayB
I strove your thoughts to tellK
When I tilted back your bonnetL
Looked into your eyes so trueI
Just to see if you were lovingA
Me as I was loving youI
-
Ah my little Lucy LandmanF
It is true it was deniedM
You should see a fuller summerI
And an autumn by my sideM
But the glance of love's sweet sunlightN
Which your eyes that morning gaveO
Has kept spring within my bosomP
Though you lie within the graveO
